Cap

Convex, expanding with age, sometimes becoming +/- flattened, whitish to pinkish buff, darker in the centre, to about 75 mm across

Gills

Emarginate to narrowly attached, somewhat crowded, pale pinkish brown, becoming darker with age, without droplets at the margin

Stem

Cylindrical with an expanded base, surface fibrous, covered with scales, whitish when young, becoming brownish with age

Smell

Pleasant, like cocoa

Mild to bitter, unpleasant
